Ever wondered what it looks like to huck yourself off a huge ramp? Maybe do a backflip? Maybe a wall-ride to gap? Or just launch off an insane kicker? How about riding a world class downhill course at breakneck speeds? Check out the two videos after the break and see for yourself. Sure, I’d give the downhill course a shot. But the slopestyle course? Hell no. I’ll stick to my tabletops…thanks.

Here’s another photo from my archives that is also from the 2005 Sea Otter Classic dirt jump contest. Like my previous “from the archives” post, this image was also shot using Tmax 3200 film. Although not as great as my previous Sea Otter capture, I do like how the rider fills the frame here and the timing of the action. To mix it up a bit, next week I’ll be posting some color images that are not related to biking. If you feel so inclined, let me know what you think of this image by leaving a comment below. See you next week!
I’ve uploaded over 300 images to a second Northstar At Tahoe Pro GRT gallery that contains images from my friend and fellow photographer Ben Wong. If you were unable to find a photo of yourself from this race, have a look in this new gallery, as Ben may have an image of you! Big thanks to Ben for providing the photos and to all the racers who make our photography possible.

Check out this clip from Andrew Taylor’s race run on Live Wire at Northstar At Tahoe this past weekend. Gives you a good idea of the course conditions that day and how Live Wire has changed.
As many of you know, I was shooting this race and if you look closely, you can see my flash go off around 4:12 (I’m camped out on the left). Here’s the photo I got of Andrew:

Update 3: Photos are now posted!
Update 2: Okay, so all the images are processed and will be uploaded to pedalpics.com shortly! I won’t have time to sort the images by bib number until tomorrow, but wanted to get them up, so please have a look. Check back tomorrow evening if you don’t feel like searching through all the images. Thanks for your patience!
Update: I’m currently processing all the images and hopefully will have them up by tonight. I’m going with a somewhat different format for many of the images, so they won’t be your standard print sizes, but prints and digital downloads will still be available. The spot I picked for this race didn’t seem to be one where you guys were tweaking it much (probably because it was near the finish and was more of a speed jump), but nevertheless I think I got some nice shots. Again, it was nice chatting with some of you at the race and congrats to all the racers who podiumed! Sample images below
I’ll be shooting the 4th annual Live Wire Classic in the Northstar At Tahoe downhill mountain bike series this Sunday the 29th. I may also be out at the 2-cross race on Saturday. As always, photos will be posted the following Monday/Tuesday at pedalpics.com. Look forward to seeing everyone shred it! See you on the mountain!
Update: Unfortunately I was unable to make it out the 2-cross race today, but I will be there tomorrow for the DH race. Looks like there will be some scattered showers, which should make for some interesting racing!
Easy now, it’s not updated just yet, but will be within the next couple of weeks. Needless to say, this update is long overdue, so keep an eye out for some recent images as well as some older work very soon. I look forward to sharing some freshness with you!
Cheers,
-A
From the archives is going to be an ongoing series here on my blog where I post one photo a week from my archives. Some will be great, some not so great, but the goal here is to spark some inspiration and get one new photo posted every week that I either never showed anyone before, or just got lost in the mix of my thousands of images. More after the jump so hit the link below.
If you haven’t seen these already, they are a must watch. Anne Caro Chausson back on the DH bike after a hiatus for 5 years?! And the Air DH. Who took the win? Lopes, that’s who with his sixth straight victory in the event. All I can say is that I wish I was there shooting photos! Oh, the riding doesn’t look too shabby either.
Update: Photos are posted! Thanks to all who have already purchased photos.

Hey riders,
I’m currently processing all the images and readying them for upload, so stayed tuned for an update later today. This Sunday’s race was definitely an interesting one with the hail storm, downpour, and lightning, but we made it through! I had initially setup a flash at the finish line jump to get some fill light in there, but because of the rain, I had to take it down or risk my flash unit being permanently damaged. I was able to get some great shots with natural light however, so fear not! On another note, it was great meeting a bunch of new people and talking to you about my work, photography, etc. Props to all the riders as well! That course was definitely not easy and the rain made it that much harder.
Photos will be posted @ PedalPics.com. Check out my other Northstar race galleries in case you’ve haven’t seen the photos yet!
Cheers,
-Anthony

A number of people have informed me that my website URL for my event/race photography (aberrantphoto.smugmug.com) is difficult to remember and not easy to spell. I have to agree. I think many people have gotten lost or given up after not being able to find the site. So, because of this, PedalPics.com is now taking it’s place! You’ll be able to find all my event and race photos at this new url, while this site (aberrantphoto.com) will remain in-tact and with regular updates to the blog and my portfoilo. Of course, you can still go to aberrantphoto.smugmug.com, but PedalPics.com is much easier to type!
Look forward to seeing you at more races this season!
